I received the first bill after installing gas, but it seemed that the gas bill came out more than I thought. So I tried to calculate it after looking at the details, but it looked a little different from before. There is a unit called MJ that I haven’t seen before, and the unit price has become very cheap.
So I called Samchully City Gas and inquired.
As a result of the inquiry, from July 2012, the standard for charging city gas has been changed from Nm3 (Normal Rube), a unit of volume, to MJ (megajoule), a unit of heat, and the unit rate has also been changed to match the megajoule.

The information required for calculation here will be the amount of use, unit heat amount, amount of heat used, and applied unit price.
Usage refers to the volume of city gas actually used, which is obtained by multiplying the meter reading by the temperature-pressure correction factor.
Unit calorific value means the amount of heat (MJ) generated from city gas in a volume of 1N㎥.
The amount of heat used is the amount of heat consumed by the actual consumer, and is calculated as the amount of heat used X unit.
Next, the amount of city gas used is calculated by multiplying the amount of heat used by the applied unit price, and the amount to be paid is determined by adding the basic rate and VAT.
In summary, the amount to be paid = (basic rate + heat used X applied unit price) X 1.1.
The basic rate here can be found in institutions such as Korea Gas Corporation or bills, and it varies by region and is approximately 700 to 900 won (as of 2013).
In fact, you can quickly find out by looking at the bill up to this point. What consumers are more interested in is predicting gas prices in advance and controlling gas consumption in order to avoid gas price bombs in winter. How to predict city gas rates
To predict your city gas bill for the next month, you need to know how much you use. In order to know the usage, you need to know the meter reading value of the previous month’s bill. Based on the bill picture above, it will be the guideline for the current month. And all I have to do is go outside and check the readings on my current meter. If you subtract the current month guide number from the previous month’s bill from the current meter reading, you can find out the amount of city gas you’ve used so far.
If you calculate the usage amount, multiply that number (usage amount) by 1000 and add about 1000 won to the basic fee, and you will get an approximate payment amount.
If you calculate the forecast based on the bill above, it becomes 98 X 1000 + 1000 = 99000 won. The amount charged on the actual bill was 109,000 won.
You can get an approximation by calculating and calculating the amount of calories used like a bill, but if you want to get a sense of how much you used in between uses, I think it would be useful to simply use the calculation method of usage x 1000 + 1000.
